Fundraise for us
Turn your ideas, challenges and events into positive change for young people. Whether you’re taking on a challenge, organising your own event or getting your community involved, fundraising for 1625 helps us provide vital support to young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Your fundraising makes a difference
Every fundraiser, big or small, helps us provide vital support to young people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or leaving care. Whether you’re fundraising on your own, with colleagues, or as part of a school, community or faith group, your support can make a real difference.
Your fundraising helps young people access safe housing and support with their mental health, relationships, education, employment and training, as well as opportunities to build connections and take part in activities with their peers.
There are lots of ways to get involved, from taking on a challenge to organising your own event or bringing your community together. Whatever you choose to do, your support helps us continue providing the support and opportunities young people need to build a more secure future.
Fundraising basics
So, you’ve decided you want to fundraise! Amazing!
But where to start? Below is our step by step guide to planning your own fundraising event:
1 Choose your activity
Will it be a sponsored challenge like a run, swim or cycle or a ticketed event such as a bingo night or dance? Maybe you will be selling something such as a bake sale, bring & buy, or art show?
2. Choose your audience
Who do you want to invite to this event? Colleagues, friends, family or members of the public? Is it just going to be adults only or will families and children be invited?
3. Choose your location
Is your event going to be in the office, at someone’s house or in a public place? Is it going to be inside or outside? It could even be a virtual event hosted online!
4. Choose your time
Will it be during the workday or after school? During the week or at the weekend? Will it be during the holidays or at a particular time of year?
5. Choose your communication
How will you promote the event? Through word-of-mouth, posters, social media posts, email or messenger? What do people need to know about the event?
6. Choose your donation method
How will you take donations? Online via a platform like Just Giving? Or in person with cash? What about a card machine or a contactless donation device?
What can your donation do?
Every contribution helps us support young people facing homelessness. Here’s how your donation could help make a difference.
£6
could buy a Day-Pass bus ticket so a young person could get to college, attend an interview, or join one of 1625’s peer social trips.
£15
could buy ingredients for a cooking session for three young people, empowering them to master the art of preparing nutritious meals within a budget.
£50
could buy smart clothes and shoes for a young person about to start work or attend an interview.
£100
could buy a 5-month gym membership to support a young person’s health and wellbeing.
£1000
could provide 8 coaching sessions to support a young person with employment, education, mental health, domestic/sexual violence, or participation.
Boost your fundraising with Gift Aid
If you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid can add 25p to every £1 donated — at no extra cost to you. So a £10 donation becomes £12.50 for 1625.
When donating or fundraising online, simply tick the Gift Aid box if you’re eligible and we can claim the extra from HMRC.
