                        <h2 class=\"brow fade-up\">A fresh start after homelessness<\/h2>\n                \n                                    <h3 class=\"fade-up h2-style\">Alex&#8217;s Story<\/h3>                                \n                                    <div class=\"content-wrap fade-up\">\n                        <p>Alex* first came to 1625 at the age of 20, after experiencing homelessness due to difficult family circumstances. Working late nights while living at home created a challenging environment, and after repeated disagreements, Alex had no choice but to leave. Initially sofa-surfing and even living in a car, the situation eventually became unsustainable. A brief stay in a local young people\u2019s hostel offered some stability, but there was no clear path forward, until a university student trainee support worker introduced Alex to 1625.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had no direction and didn\u2019t know where to turn. Meeting 1625 changed that for me,\u201d Alex recalls.<\/p>\n<p>Alex was connected with the South Gloucestershire Team and met Yasser, who played a pivotal role in navigating social housing and support services. With guidance from 1625, Alex secured a higher banding on their social housing application and received support for mental health needs, including ADHD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was life-changing to have someone help me see things more clearly and make healthier choices. The consistency of 1625\u2019s support has been life-saving,\u201d Alex shares.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Education, Employment, and Training (EET) team, Alex also developed practical skills, taking part in kitchen sessions with Ria and engaging in other activities. Being part of 1625\u2019s Young People\u2019s Board helped Alex stay busy and build confidence, while mentorship and free counselling through the Transitions and Resilience team provided additional guidance and reassurance.<\/p>\n<p>Alex is now preparing to move into a new flat, a fresh start and a new chapter. Future plans include continuing Fitness Instructor training and pursuing work in security, while prioritising settling into stable housing with ongoing support from the EET team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the support I\u2019ve received, I feel more confident and equipped to move forward.
